100th anniversary of Manshuk Mametova’s birth!
Manshuk Zhiengaliovna Mametova (real name – Mansiya) was born in 1922 in Orda district of the Ural region and died on the front on October 16, 1943.
Heroic Kazakh girl – Hero of the Soviet Union (1944). Since her mother called her Monchagym, Mansiya did not understand the language, so she called him Manshuk. Manshuk, who lost his parents early, spends his childhood and youth in Almaty under the upbringing of A. Mametova. He was studying at the Almaty Medical Institute when the Great Patriotic War began. In August 1942, he voluntarily joined the Red Army and participated in the battle as part of the 21st Infantry Division. Senior sergeant, machine gunner Manshuk stood out in battles with his marksmanship and bravery in his group. In the decisive battle for the city of Nevel, Manshuk was killed heroically by machine gun fire before his last breath.
