Gafu Kairbekova (1928-1994) was born on August 15 in the city of Torgai, Kostanay region. Graduated from the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after Abai (1952). He headed the editorial office of poetry in the Kazakh state Publishing House, was deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Kazakh Adebieti”, head of the editorial office of poetry in the publishing house “Zhazushy”.
In 1968-1973 he headed the poetry section of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.
In 1973-1989 he worked as deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “Zhuldyz”. Until the end of his life, he was the president of the Association of Poets of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan.
In 1954, his collection “peers” was published. Since then, more than forty books have been published.
Poems “steppe bell” (1956), collections “underground star gift ” (1965), “winged years” (1973), two-volume “Belasar” were kindly accepted by readers. For the collection of poems ” Star Destinies ” in 1980 , the poet was awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR
