By the decree of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 833 of October 18, 2022, the holiday “October 24 – librarian’s day” was established. The main goal of the holiday is to raise the image of the librarian’s profession and stimulate it in the professional arena. This is a holiday not only for professional librarians, but primarily for people who love books and understand the huge role of the librarian in their cultural and social life.
Libraries are a sacred place of high intelligence and knowledge, which has existed for centuries. They are the golden bridge between the reader and the book. And it is the librarians who give life to books and libraries, continue the relationship between national values and readers. Librarians who preserve, promote and create our sacred treasures for the benefit of the country are people of the most necessary and honorable professions. Librarians make an invaluable contribution to the development of education, science, art and culture, laying the foundation for our transformation into a civilized country.
